How to Install SQL Server 2014 Step by Step on Windows 2012 Virtual Machine of VirtualBox

I have just installed Windows 2012 evolution in VirtualBox. Now it is time to install SQL server 2014 now.

1. Attach ISO image ( SQLServer2014SP1-FullSlipstream-x64-ENU ) by :

Choose “Windows Server 2012” ->Setting->Storage->Adds optical drive->choose disk , then choose downloaded image “SQLServer2014SP1-FullSlipstream-x64-ENU”

2. Startup Windows 2012 virtual machine.

3. Clock just mounted CD Drive(D:) SQL 2014_x64_ENU.

4. Choose “Installation”->”New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation”.

5. Select  “Evaluation” for “Specify a free edition:”

Click Next -> “I accept the license terms”.

6. Click Next, Choose “Use Microsoft Update to check for updates ( recommended ).

7. Check Install rules.

8. Choose “SQL Server Feature Installation” -> Click Next.

9. Choose all features, then click Next.

10. Feature Rules shows “Microsoft >NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is required”.

11. Go to “Server Manager”->”Add roles and features”->”Select features”->”Features”->check “NET Framework 3.5 features”.

12. Choose “Restart the destination server automatically if required”.

13. Click “Install” to start to install “NET FRamework 3.5 features”.

14. Click “Re-run”, and all checking passed.

15. Click Next.

16. Click Next.

17. Choose ‘Windows authentication mode”, and click “Add Current User” for ‘Specify SQL Server administrators”.

18. Select Server mode for SSAS.

19. Configure SSRS mode here. We can install and configure or install only for native mode. If we get any issue in the Install and configure installation mode than we can change this option to install only mode. We can navigate back and forth using the Next and Back button in this wizard.

20. “Add Current User” for “Specify Distributed Replay Controller service access permission”.

21. leave blank for “Controller Name”, and click Next.

22. Click “Install”.

23. Installation is successful.
